Have you ever wondered what compels you to buy certain products or services? From the food you eat to the clothes you wear, somewhere, somehow, a certain message was convincing enough for you to make that purchase. Whether you realize it or not, companies are competing to communicate to you through traditional media such as billboards, posters, magazines and television to non-traditional platforms like social media with banners and pop-up ads. Of course, the terms traditional and non-traditional have been changing in the last decade as the majority of marketing budgets have shifted to more digital platforms since everyone carries their own multimedia device in their hands.
The Marketing program at MINT College can introduce students into this exciting and ever-changing industry through professionals that have successfully guided companies through their marketing expertise. In fact, our faculty of professionals are still in the industry which allows them to not only be up-to-date with the latest in trends, but to also act as a channel for students to have direct knowledge and experience working in the industry.
This bachelor’s program, also known as IMAC—or Integrated Marketing, Advertising, and Communication, is offered as a major in Business Administration and is also strategically linked to our Senior High strand of Accountancy, Business, and Management (ABM) to the advantage of our senior high students. Through this interdisciplinary course that merges the fields of Arts, Business, and Technology, we develop a well-rounded creative professional who can thrive in an already over-saturated contemporary marketing setting characterized by a noisy media landscape and the digitally connected consumer.
Our Marketing students know that effective communication is based on having deep knowledge of the product/service and understanding the target market. At MINT, they can learn how to communicate the right messages to audiences through the use of both traditional and new media, and create engaging and successful campaigns. Students who enroll in Marketing also have the option to take concentrations under the IMAC program—either Brand Management, or Media and Events.
The BRAND MANAGEMENT concentration covers marketing and communications for Lifestyle and Fashion brands. Students will learn the best practices for both traditional and new media including content and influencer marketing. Students will be given the knowledge, skills and tools to be successful in supporting brands in this category – additionally, given that most products and services are being presented with a lifestyle context, students will be gaining skills that can be applied almost any industry.
The MEDIA AND EVENTS concentration focuses on the use of Events and other Media services to support the achievement of marketing goals. The specialized classes will cover both their proper strategic use as well as the production process associated with these services. Also covered among the topics are the professional practices associated with having individuals as brands. Students under this concentration get to collaborate with students from Music Business Management and Film & Video programs.
Our Marketing students graduate as professionals ready to collaborate, innovate, and effectively manage the way businesses maintain relationships with their audiences through strategic communications and engaging activities.
