Lauded comic book creators Rafael Navarro and Mike Wellman stopped by at MINT College, Ortigas East for a whole day geeking out over Spiderman, DC and Marvel, famous cartoons, and the Balete tree. They lead the Atomic Sessions Manila last March 3, 2020.
The panel began with Eisner awardee and a well-known figure in the indie comic book community, Mike Wellman. He discussed about how to become a great storyteller for graphic novels. He gave tips to aspiring cartoonists and comic book illustrators on how to come up with a great plot and
Wellman is also a comic book retailer. He established Atomic Basement at Long Beach, California. His bookstore houses rising independent comic book creators and established artists as well.
Rafael Navarro is an Emmy awardee graphic illustrator and animator. Most of his notable works include The Batman, Rugrats and Spectacular Spiderman among others.
Their road manager, Karen Kunowicz said that this opportunity “is a great exposure for young artists to know the industry of comic books and to fuel their dreams of joining the ranks of best comic book writers someday.” W
