Since the news about a deadly viral disease became unstoppable worldwide, the COVID-19 pandemic pushed everyone forcibly to drop their usual daily routines and trips outside to avoid transmission. Since March 15, the Philippines have had conducted several ‘community quarantines’ to curb the infection rate as the death toll rises each day. With this, MINT College as a school had no choice but to follow.
This school year, students were now taking their classes online, with Google Meets and Classroom as their only portals to learn from their professors. Thankfully, the school managed to have a good run of the “new normal” for schools which is online classes. To add, all of the school faculty members and staff were asked to do a work-from-home set-up.
However, this didn’t stop MINT to still function as it were— just with a few tweaks to its usual operations. Since the lockdowns happening every two weeks, semesters are now divided as Quarterly (1st and 2nd Quarters). Instead of active Physical Education classes, we have “wellness and meditation classes” that students can take part to unwind from their usual hectic schedules. We have also been using Google Classrooms to be able to continue our classes. Here are just some of the major changes that we have to do to be able to get on with this year’s “new normal”. W
