Last March 25, 2021, MINT College, in partnership with the Philippine Italian Association (PIA), hosted a simultaneous screening of Massimiliano Flory’s short film, “Dante, Our Luck,” (Dante Por Nuestra Fortuna) just in time for the Italian poet Dante Alighieri’s 700th death anniversary.

The main event was screened in Ravenna Italy, where it’s best believed to be the final resting place of the renowned poet. The short film is in a play format, following a nine-year-old boy who fell asleep dreaming about Alighieri’s “Divine Comedy” (Divina Comedia). Massimiliano Flory lent his voice to narrate key scenes from the trilogy as dancers bring it to life on stage. The film is delivered in Italian (with English subtitles available) to keep the charm of the poem excerpts inserted in the play.

Almost 40 students attended the said event, along with the Film & Video program head, Ms. Amparo Pe, and MINT Executive president, Mr. Hendrik Kiamzon. The screening was spearheaded by the school’s official student-led film organization, CineMINT. The virtual screening link was provided by PIA representative, Alessandro Milani. The event was sponsored by the Dante Alighieri Society in Manila, and the Italian Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines, under the auspices of the Embassy of Italy in the Philippines, with the Film Development Council of the Philippines, and the National Library of the Philippines.
