On November 26, MINT College’s production of Tayo Na Lang Kasi was announced as the MYX Choice for Best Music Video on ABS-CBN’s Sunday variety show, ASAP. The win followed MINT’s successful production of O, Pag-big, which also won the same award in 2016.

MINT College has been a consistent participant of Himig Handog’s music video competition since 2013. For four years, MINT has handed students directorial roles, trusting that their experience in class will aide them in producing music videos that equal professionally produced ones in terms of quality.

“We have always believed in the talents and skills of our students. They have achieved so much, and a back to back win is not an easy feat to accomplish. To say that we are proud is an understatement at this point,” said MINT’s President, Baltazar Endriga.

This 2017, Himig Handog implemented a new competition format by opening the music video awards to colleges and universities across the nation. MINT College competed against participating schools from Olongapo, Laguna, Quezon Province, Bulacan, Pampanga, Batangas, Baguio, Bataan, and Cebu. Among the Top 10 songs, MINT College was assigned Soc Villanueva’s Tayo Na Lang Kasi, which is interpreted by Kyla and Jason Dy.

On a Facebook post, Senior Film student and co-director Princess Asuncion expressed her gratitude to the whole MINT student production team, “The shoot wasn’t easy, the post prod wasn’t easy, but we all remained strong and willed to do great. I have so much respect for the whole team.”

The team is composed of Princess and Joyce Ching as Co-directors, Teks Pabuayon as Creative Director, Jav Velasco as Director of Photography, Vincent Lojares and Mhegs Cerdena in Camera Operations, Vincent Mijares as Gaffer, Aia Arkoncel and Bea Trinidad in Production Design, Isa Daza as Art Director, Air Jimenez as Production Manager, RM Cristobal and Marky Saavedra for Graphic Design, and Iñigo Acuña and Sofia Villa as Actors.

MINT’s Executive Vice President, Hendrik Kiamzon believes that the award manifests the school’s drive for quality, “We’re seeing a culture of excellence growing among our students, and we’d like to think that this is supported by their education here at MINT College. Many of them have won awards this year, and we could not be prouder!”

Aside from the MYX Choice for Best Music Video, Tayo Na Lang Kasi also won MOR 101.9’s Choice, and One Music PH’s Choice for Favorite Interpreter.
