Our Entrepreneurship program expertly blends fundamental business discipline with technology, design, and applied arts to develop creative and practical solutions in today’s ever-changing business landscape. Our students are immersed in the exciting world of international start-ups, with the opportunities to learn from and engage with daring professionals.
It emphasizes a progressive entrepreneurial mindset, immersing our students in a highly collaborative, if not sometimes competitive, environment set to challenge their ideas and skills. Our graduates are poised to be the next generation of leaders, entrepreneurs, and innovators— ready to launch the next great start-up, or guide existing organizations to adapt in new and creative ways.
ENTREP CONCENTRATIONS
For Entrepreneurship students, here are the three concentrations to choose from:
FASHION AND LIFESTYLE
A variant of the general Entrepreneurship program that beyond providing business foundation offers specialized subjects that will teach the skills and processes associated with designing and developing Fashion Products. There will also be classes focused on the marketing and communication for Lifestyle and Fashion brands. The culminating activity would be the creation of a viable fashion/lifestyle product or service.
NEW MEDIA
This concentration for students who a specific interest in developing Media related products and services. Like the other concentrations it will have classes that cover core business and entrepreneurial knowledge but there will also be specialized classes focused on the various facets of the media industry including the tools and processes involved in media production. These students will have opportunities to interact with the schoolmates from the media centric programs (Music Business Management, Multimedia Arts, and Film and Video).
E-COMMERCE
An Entrepreneurship Program variant that looks at the opportunities provided by digital technology and translating it into product or service innovation. It will have a range of specialized subjects that will look at the technology itself but will also how the technology can be applied to reach out to consumers; create efficiencies in service workflows and production chains and in ultimately create truly unique products and services. Students in this concentration will also have opportunities to interact with those in other programs particularly Computer Science and Information Technology.
YOUR MENTORS
Our faculty, and the educators we invite, are rich in professional experience. With mentors like them at the helm, our students are poised to seamlessly transition into the professional world.
James “Mony” Romana, Program Head. This current Head of Distribution for Believe Philippines is a lecturer who specializes music marketing, having worked in various posts in the recording world such as Sony Music Entertainment and Warner Music Philippines. He also developed innovative campaigns for major international and local releases as a Marketing and A&R Executive. During his time at the government, he advocated for the creative industries, pushed for policies to recognize the sector as a key economic driver, and attended numerous international discussions as part of DTI’s Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM). As an entrepreneur, Mony pushes for more adaptation by the Philippine Music Industry of platforms and innovations in the digital sphere. He also developed numerous start-ups such as Sucesos Filipinas Inc.; Odicion, an online platform for musicians to connect and collaborate; and Distroconnect, a company that seeks to empower independent music artists and labels through business consultancy and mentoring. He took up BA Political Science and Government at the University of the Philippines-Diliman, and finished his Masters in Business Administration at the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila.
Wix Alconaba, UX/UI Instructor. Wix has worked as a self-taught professional UX designer for a decade already. Here in the Philippines, he started his career as a Systems Analyst at KCC Property Holdings. He also worked as a graphic designer at Dole Philippines, and briefly volunteered at DTI Region 12 as a product label consultant for MSMEs. Wix also was also posted in the United States for several companies, having worked as a UX/UI/Graphic Designer at Mobile Giant and METHODIC Marketing in California; a product designer at Hatch in Virginia, and a product designer for MVP Mailhouse in Utah. As a graduate in Information Technology from Mindanao State University, he currently teaches UX/UI design or Interactive Design here at MINT College, and is currently a UX Researcher at Multisys Technologies Corporation.
Belle Blanco, Entrep Instructor. Belle has over 20 years of experience in marketing, sales, managing SMEs and corporations, project and event management, and branding. She started her career as events manager at Manila Philharmonic Orchestra and pioneered establishing the delivery and catering department of Gerry’s Grill Bar & Restaurant. Aside from owning Four M Events Management Services and a printshop, Belle also founded Bites & Goodies Healthy Corner and helped the startup programs of the technology incubators at UP Diliman and Miriam College. She holds a BSBA major in Commerce from UST and Masters of Technology Management from UP Diliman. She currently teaches entrepreneurship, business ethics, good governance, total quality management, and product management classes here at MINT College.
