MINT College instructor and former Theater program head, Dennis Marasigan grabbed two citations at the Gawad Buhay’s third quarter citations for 2017.

Marasigan, who teaches Lighting Design and Shakespeare at MINT, received citations for Outstanding Lighting Design and Outstanding Stage Direction for a Play for his work on Ang Pag-uusig. “Dennis has been with us for a while, and throughout the years, he has received acknowledgements like this. We’re very proud of him and what he does for the theater industry. Knowing that we have faculty who consistently receive accolades like this helps us guarantee that our students get the best education and mentorship possible,” said Hendrik Kiamzon, MINT College’s Executive Vice President.

Ang Pag-uusig is Tanghalang Pilipino’s Filipino translation of Arthur Miller’s The Crucible. Major media outlets have lauded its production in the time of alleged extrajudicial killings in the Philippines, since the play tackles mass hysteria, manipulation, untruthful victimhood, and hearsay accusations based on the historical Salem Witch Trials from 1692 to 1693.

Other than Marasigan’s two citations, Tanghalang Pilipino also received eleven other citations for Outstanding Translation or Adaptation, Set Design, Male Lead Performance in a Play, Female Featured Performance in a Play, Male Featured Performance in a Play, Ensemble Performance for a Play, and Outstanding Play (Original or Translation/ Adaptation).

The performances for Ang Pag-uusig ran from September 29 to October 22.
