On November 20, MINT College’s Film students enjoyed the first day of CineFiesta with a talk from award-winning film director Erik Matti, and his editor, Jay Halili.
Matti and Halili opened the annual Film Week with a lecture on filmmaking, and the current state of film cinema. Matti, who directed provocative films like Honor Thy Father, Seklusyon, and Tiktik: The Aswang Chronicles, spoiled the students with annotated clips from the said films, and from the yet to be released martial arts action film film, Buy Bust, which is starred by Anne Curtis. The filmmaking tandem also shared “cautionary tales” on the many challenges faced in the film industry.
CineFiesta runs from November 20 to November 23. Special guests from the film and media industry include renowned director, Erik Matti, celebrated actress of the silver screen, Cherie Gil, multi-awarded cinematographer, Neil Daza, production designer, Popo Diaz, and multimedia producer, Patrick Filart. There will also be special screenings of film classics at the MINT Playhouse.
The Bite-Size Film competition will also be having screenings throughout the week, and winners will be announced during the Awards Night.
