Young Creatives Challenge (YC2) Screenwriting Winners from Seasons 1 and 2 pose with film producers, MINT College mentors and DTI representatives at Green Light - Pitching for the Screen event at MINT College’s Ortigas East campus.

Pasig City, Philippines — Great stories aren’t just written — they are remembered. This is the guiding principle given to the winners of the Screenwriting category of the Young Creatives Challenge, or YC2, Seasons 1 and 2, during their post-competition training.

The YC2 competition was conducted in 2025 and saw hundreds of creative talents across the country compete in screenwriting, animation, game development, playwriting, graphic novel development, and songwriting. As an added bonus, the Department of Trade and Industry’s Philippine Creative Industries Development Council Secretariat (PCIDCS) was the main sponsor for the event and provided additional training to the winners of each category to open up more commercial opportunities for their work.

MINT College, through its Film program, mentored the 20 Screenwriting YC2 winners in order to develop their respective scripts and prepare them for pitching to film producers at an event entitled Green Light - Pitching for the Screen in March 2026. The winners underwent intensive train- ing by professional faculty in MINT College’s film department. Lead mentor Carla Baful headed a team of mentors that provided hands-on training to the YC2 cohort in the areas of Screenplay Format, Structure and Anti-Structure, Sequence Treatment, and Producing and Pitching.

The YC2 winners painstakingly worked on their scripts, finding the time in their busy schedules to improve and prepare their work for the culminating pitch event at MINT’s Ortigas East campus. On hand was Paolo Federico A. Ramos, Deputy Executive Director IV of the Philippine Creative Industries Development Council Secretariat (PCIDCS) under the Department of Trade and Indus-try (DTI), to give his welcome address to the winners. Also present to provide opening remarks was Tonisito M.C. Umali, President of MINT College.

After the opening ceremony, the top 10 winners from YC2 pitched their screenplays to film industry producers invited to this momentous occasion. The objective is for these young talents to eventually land a production deal that will see their creative visions come to life onscreen. Good luck YC2 winners!
